• I recently created a blog, I still have not fully customized it and I’m still new to everything that this entails so I’ve been moving very slowly with getting it up and running as everything is very confusing for me.

Today I tried to access the admin panel and was not able to because the page states that “this webpage is not available. The server at http://www.islandwifecitylife.com can’t be found, because the DNS lookup failed. DNS is the network service that translates a website’s name to its Internet address. This error is most often caused by having no connection to the Internet or a misconfigured network. It can also be caused by an unresponsive DNS server or a firewall preventing Google Chrome from accessing the network.”

The browser that I’m using is Google Chrome but I have tried to open the website in Safari and wasn’t able to access it on that either. I was able to access a cached version of the website but when I clicked the log in link it took me back to the same error page.

The theme that I believe I was using was either the default one for this year or hemmingway, I was trying to tweek between the two to see what I preferred and I’m actually in the process of purchasing another theme. My domain was set up via Hostgator.com and I have very little knowledge on this topic as I just created this blog 3 weeks ago so please keep that in mind when assisting me with the problem.

Thanks in advance to whoever can help me!

    Terez

  • I would first check with HostGator regarding DNS problems then I would go again through all the installation instructions and make sure everything is done properly especially in wp-congif.php

    Hi Michael,

I’ll send them a message just to see if they can assist. I installed the website using a tutorial on youtube and everything seemed to be coming along good until not being able to access it recently.

I used an online tutorial to uninstall WordPress via my Hostgator cPanel and reinstalled it using quick install but the problem still wasn’t resolved.

I’m contemplating deleting the website and starting again from scratch but I’m nervous because I’m not sure if deleting the website will also delete my domain name etc. since I’m not too familiar with everything.

    What do you think?
