Can not overwrite existing categories

    When upgrade to WP 4.8, i can’t overwrite existing categories, because i have 3000+ categories and choose by hand is very slowly. In previuos version, i has just add name of category and it has been match right with existing categorie in database.

    Does anyone else have this error like me?

    Hello Vmhpro,

    Sorry for the issues with the categories. I was testing this in my WordPress test site and I’m not 100% I understand what you’re trying to do. If you try to add a category that already exists, it will not overwrite it as that term may already be linked to other posts. You can however edit that category if you need to change something about it. Or, you can delete it. Can you please explain in more detail what you’re trying to do when you say “overwrite existing categories”? Are you referring to categories under posts? Or are you referring to something else like ecommerce-type categories?

    Please provide us a little more info and I’m sure that someone in this forum will be able to provide some assistance.

    In WP 4.7.5 (i has downgrade version from 4.8).
    i can add same name of category already existing in database, this is not happen with WP 4.8
