can i use features of wordpress

    can i use some of the features in wordpress on a regular site. i dont necessary want a blog, like an example i want a chatroom or use its
    cms – content management system for a regular site.

    Yes, sure you can.
    You just need to use a theme that allows you to turn off the blog style elements or just use pages instead of posts. If you want to allow people to post/chat on your site then you could combine WordPress with bbpress forum (like the one used here on WordPress.org)

    i guess what i want is to create my own site front page with regular html, css, etc and use the wordpress cms.

    Well all you have to do its create a home.php for any theme that you like.
    That way you can control exactly whats on your home page, include any html and css that you like, plus any WordPress functions you like.

    Sounds like you really just need to create your own theme for your CMS site 😉 But look around and I’m sure you’ll find a CMS like theme to suit your needs and save yourself some time.
