Can I upgrade without loosing data?

    Hello my name is DR Jerry Katzman and I just wondered if I kept my index.php file from the previous version would it still work with 2.3.1 (i.e can I upgrade without it breaking my design?).

    If you follow these directions here. And your current theme is compatible with the newest version of wp, if your using it with 2.3 now then it is. If your not sure if you theme is compatible or not you can check here.
