Can I delete a Header.PHP file?

    Hi – I have a client with a website that was created by a designer years ago.

    I’m trying to help her get rid of the Revolution Slider that shows at the top of the pages and just put a static image in the theme editor. My skill set would allow me to add a static image to the header, but that’s about it.

    I found the header.php and I believe that file is displaying the Revolution Slider header.

    Could I just delete that file? I was thinking to delete (but save) the code in the file as a test, but I”m not sure if that would mess it up also.

    Any help would be very much appreciated!!!

    Since you use a commercial theme or plugin and need support, please go to their official support channel. In order to be good stewards of the WordPress community, and encourage innovation and progress, we feel it’s important to direct people to those official locations: https://www.sliderrevolution.com/

    Forum volunteers are also not given access to commercial products, so they would not know why your commercial theme or plugin is not working properly. This is one other reason why volunteers forward you to the commercial product’s vendors. The vendors are responsible for supporting their commercial product.

    Commercial products are not supported in these forums.

    OK. I thought since the header.php file was part of the WordPress infrastructure, it wasn’t really a slider revolution problem. It could have been any slider software and I’d still need to know if I’ll break the site if I delete a header.php

    i’d guess you probably can’t delete header.php.

    If you delete the full header.php file the site will run into trouble. Are you able to see any code there that might have been added to insert the slider? Or is there a header.php file in a child theme, which is ideally where modifications to theme files should be carried out?

    I found the header code in the header.php file in the child theme and replaced it with an image.

    It looks great, and I thank you so much for pointing me in the right direction!
