@alaffin Can you please try to disable other plugins one by one and then try to enable the cache and check if it works?
@alaffin Please goto WP-Optimize > Settings > Wipe settings (this will delete all the current settings of WPO, so make sure to remember the other settings), and try enabling caching again.
Thank you @bornforphp for your help… I disabled a couple of plugins but then went straight to wipe settings.
It’s now saying “Could not turn on the WP_CACHE constant in wp-config.php. Check your permissions.” Pleased i got some sort of feedback, although i’d have preferred a more positive one! Any ideas?
Sorry @bornforphp i wondered if you were able to help with this please? It’s still not turning on – and is now saying “Could not turn on the WP_CACHE constant in wp-config.php. Check your permissions” when i try to.
Thanks, Anna
Hi Anna,
You’ll need to change the file permissions of the wp-config.php files and give it write access.
You can read more about this in this article: https://wordpress.org/support/article/changing-file-permissions/
Which hosting company do you use? Some hosts have their own caching system and prevent other plugins to enable caching, or simply prevent access to certain files for security reasons.
Marc.
Thanks @marcusig I’ll give it a go, not really sure what I’m doing though!! I’ve got access via FTP. We’re currently on TSO-Host / Gridhost. Will be moving servers soon though.
Okay. This paragraph of the article should help you doing this using a ftp client:
https://wordpress.org/support/article/changing-file-permissions/#using-an-ftp-client
Owner and group should have write permissions.
Once this is done, and caching is enabled, you can revert the permissions to what they were.
Thank you so much for your help! It all seems to be working now! 🙂
