This is typically caused by another plugin breaking the page. Best way to troubleshot is deactivate all plugins except maintenance mode and enable until it breaks.

No problem, which plugin was causing the issue?

    Hi John,
I have a problem which seems simple on the face of it. I link my Enter button to another page on my site. When i do Live Preview as the administrator it is fine. When I log out as administrator and come in to the site as Joe Public when I hit the Enter button it comes back to itself i.e. the front page…… like its stuck in a loop?
Why would there be a difference?

The coming soon page is active on all of your frontend page. When you are logged you have access to these pages. When you are logged you see the coming soon page.

The Pro version has a way to exclude or include pages to display the coming soon which it appears you are trying to do.

    Thanks John,
We will purchase the Pro version.
Just to clarify the Enter button link works in administrative mode but not as an ordinary user. The Exit button link works fine in both modes.
The Enter button links to a page within the website whereas the Exit button links to an external site.
All works fine as an administrator and in Preview but not as a normal user.

I’m not sure what you mean by enter and exit buttons then. Can you post some more details and your url?

    Hi John,
I put a disclaimer page up so that anyone meeting the criteria could press Enter and go to the first page of the site while anyone not meeting the criteria could press Exit and be taken away to a charity site.
The page is up, take a look:- mychloeharris.com.
Try the Enter button, it loops back.
As administrator in Preview in coming soon it works as intended

Ok, the in that case yes you’d need to pro version so you can exclude that page and not show the coming soon page.

    I still don’t understand.
When I press the Enter button which is coded to go to another page in the site, it comes back to the same front page i.e. back to itself.
All the other buttons go to where they are supposed to.
Why would the Enter button do this in Live when it works fine in Preview?

Are you saying that there is functionality in Pro which would make this all work i.e. its disabled in this version?

So the Coming Soon Page shows on every page of your site to visitors who are not logged in. This is so you can work on your site with out people seeing it.

When you are logged in you can see your entire site. So this is why it works when you are logged in and does not work when you are logged out.

The pro version allows you to exclude certain pages on from displaying the coming soon page even to visitors not logged. So for example you could only display a coming soon page on the front page of your site.

This functionally is not disabled in the free version it just not include.

Hi John, I think you misunderstand. The Enter button on the front page created by using Coming Soon does not allow a visitor to enter the site.
Have you gone to the site and pressed the Enter button? that best illustrates the issue.
Then for comparison, Press the Exit button?

I know what you are saying, when you click the button it show the coming soon page. This is because the coming soon page displays on every page of your site when you are not logged in which I’m not.

Ok John I get it. We will buy Pro.
    thank you.
