Hi @muriellumb,
Thank you for reaching out, and sorry about the bullets showing up on your query loop items.
This bullet appears to be loading as a marker from an unknown source. To make it invisible, please try adding the following CSS under Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS:
.single #content .post::marker {
color: transparent;
}
Please let us know if this resolves the issue, or if you still see the bullet after adding this code.
Best regards
Hi Amrit – thanks for getting back to me.
That doesn’t make a difference that I can see.
Also note – it’s not just the appearance of the bullet itself that’s the problem – each post in the list is also indented – like bulleted lists. See also the news page which is a different design and highlights the problem event more. https://bantryhist.fastnetweb.ie/news/ When I am editing the News page, the text overlaps the image and there’s no indent or bullet. In the published page – you can see the problem.
I see list-style-type is defined as square – it’s like the post is being defined the same as bulleted list but I don’t know how to fix that.
Looking forward to your reply.
Muriel
PS. I have just realised the link I sent you no longer has bullets. But two other lists do:
https://bantryhist.fastnetweb.ie/news/ and https://bantryhist.fastnetweb.ie/publications/
Update: I noticed that the bullet formatting happens on the query loop on pages but not on posts. Weird. So, for the moment I’m just going to move the pages with the problem to posts. It’s not ideal, but it’s a workaround.
If you’re willing to see if the page bullet formatting problem can be fixed, you’ll find both formats here: https://bantryhist.fastnetweb.ie/news-old/events-old/. Ignore previous links as I’ve moved everything round.
Thanks
Muriel
Hi Muriel,
Thanks for the update. Since the bullet points are still showing up even after applying the fix, this is likely a caching issue, the browser or a caching plugin/CDN may still be serving the old CSS.
Could you please try the following:
- Clear your site’s cache (if you’re using a caching plugin like WP Rocket, LiteSpeed Cache, W3 Total Cache, etc.)
- Clear your browser cache, or check the page in an incognito/private window
- If you’re using a CDN (like Cloudflare), purge the cache there as well
Please check the page again after clearing the cache and let us know if the bullets are still visible.
If everything looks good on your end, we’d really appreciate it if you could mark this topic as resolved. Thank you!
Best regards,
Hi Amrit
I’ve tried that with no difference. But I’ll pass it to our designer to see if I’ve missed anything. At this stage, I’ve found a workaround – using posts instead of pages – so I will probably close this either way – but I’ll wait for William to get back to me.
Thanks for trying.
Muriel
Hi again.
Yeah, de-caching didn’t help. But our tech guy sorted some code to get round it. I’m not sure exactly what though.
So marking as resolved.
Muriel
