Build problems

My site is growing over time as we add more and more content. Until now I used Duplicator without problems, but lately I have been getting a build error, so I filtered out all the videos. That helped but sometimes it would take 2-3 attempts before I would get a successful build (~750MB). Now I am no longer able to achieve a build no matter what (~850MB). So I filtered out the content folder, and the build was immediately successful (~60MB).

What is really the problem here? The size of my website? Or is the server preventing me from backing up an 850MB site?

Hey Ender,

Most budget hosts will limit the process time of a PHP process either at the PHP layer or Apache layer. If the host deems the process has ran for too long (based on its configuration) then it will kill the process which doesn’t allow the plugin to continue running…

Thanks, I connected the hosting company and they informed me that even though I could not directly access the php.ini file , I could put a copy in the WordPress folder and use that to increase the max execute time. So far it seems to help. Hopefully it will as the site grows in size.

Hi, I think to have the same problem of EnderWiggin with my site in Altervista (~940 Mb). So I ask: where do you put the copy of the file php.ini? which folder do you put it in? Another question: how can I increase the maximum execution time? Thanks

For 1&1, I was told to put it in the same folder where WordPress was installed, where wp-config.php resides. But based on the forum thread below this might not work for you with Altervista. so you will need to try another method such via .htaccess file.
