I’m running the latest version of WP and Achievements. I’ve setup a fresh installation on my localhost computer (WAMP). I’m experiencing an error where any user (both admins and subscribers) receive the achievement unlocked popup on every page visited, even after dismissing the popup on the previous page. The error occurs in both Google Chrome and Firefox. Chrome’s Developer Console does not report any JavaScript errors. Any clue what could be wrong?

  • I’m getting exactly the same problem! It only seems to occur when I dismiss the achievement popup by left-clicking somewhere on the screen. When I click on the “See all your achievements” button, then it’s fine.

Per the second reply, this is intended behaviour.

Original poster, are you doing the same?

Yes, I suppose that’s how it is working. It’s just that, with the only way to dismiss the message being to visit the awards page, it may seem like a nuisance to some people. I would have imagined it to work as stated previously, but I guess that’s just personal preference. (Although similar popup widgets work as I might expect). Personally I’d like an ‘X’ on the upper right of the popup window, to dismiss the notice. In a world where we are bombarded with popups, advertisments, and general distractions I feel that my website users might *not* want to visit their achievements page every time they unlock something.

I agree that to change this behaviour as you’ve described will be an improvement, but it’s not an immediate priority. I want to spend some more time thinking about how best to achitect the JavaScript, and then I’ll be revisiting this problem.
