Browsing to localhost URL | WordPress.org

When trying to browse to the http://localhost/wordpress URL as per the instructions here:

I get the error of

HTTP Error 403.14 – Forbidden
The Web server is configured to not list the contents of this directory.

http://wordpress.visitmix.com/development/installing-wordpress-on-sql-server#iis

If I turn on the directory browsing I just get a list of folders. I should be getting the wordpress configuration screen as per the instructions. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

Oh – how to I check that? I downloaded what it said in the instructions and also installed IIS7.

Hi there

I am now getting a:

HTTP Error 404.3 – Not Found
The page you are requesting cannot be served because of the extension configuration. If the page is a script, add a handler. If the file should be downloaded, add a MIME map.

I take it PHP isn’t installed. So I went to download the zip file from PHP.net but I have no idea what to do now. Can you point me to some reliable PHP install documentation?

I fixed it, found this link which did an automatic install for me. I had to ensure I had all the IIS component installed but apart from that it seems to work now. Thanks
