Broken WordPress Media Library
-
Hello everyone,
My objective from the beginning was moving my website to a new host and to a clean WordPress Installation
I had a little bit of trouble moving my website since I did a few wrong steps in the way, basically, the way I ended up moving my website was the following: I had a backup of the database and the “Uploads” folder because that’s all I thought I needed to keep the content, and later on, eventually, I would have moved any plugin content I wanted to keep.
I first moved all the 20.000 photos from the old upload folder to the new one and then I imported the database, I did a few corrections to the links and all seemed fine until I checked the media library and everything was blanked out, then I noticed all the URL’s of the images had the month and date on it (yyyy/mm) but in the actual “Uploads” folder I just had the folders for the last 2 years, but the folders between 2012 and 2017 doesn’t exist, I thought then that could have been a problem with the file transfer, but when I checked the old server, those folders weren’t there neither, so pretty much all of those 20.000 photos are on the uploads folder and not in sub-folders.
I manage to make the photos show up in the posts just getting the links to remove the year and month, but in the Media Library all the files still blank and showing the links to the Year/Month folders.
With that said, I thought one of those media organizer’s plugin could sort this problem out, but all that the plugin does is rescan the files and put them all as being from this year. So now I’m pretty much hopeless because I have no idea of how I’ll be able to get the files back in place according to their original date. Any one had this issue before?
Thanks in advance for the help.
Thanks
