Hi spirish,
The plugin isn’t broken with https enabled. If you’re getting that error, it means you have a configuration error in your main settings page.
On the main WordPress settings page (“General Settings”), both URL fields (“WordPress Address (URL)” and “Site Address (URL)”) need to have the same URL scheme (“https://” or “http://”) – they have to match.
That error message you are getting (and subsequent deactivation) from WP-SpamShield is happening because it is doing error checking, and found the problem in your settings: One URL is “http://” and one is “https://”, which will present problems for your site, and prevent certain things from working, including WP-SpamShield. If you fix that error in the settings (so both should start with “https://”)…everything will work again.
If you have any further issues or questions, please submit a support request at the WP-SpamShield Support Form (our main support venue), and we’ll be happy to help you out.

Hi Scott,
The issue is not with the general settings. I have define(‘FORCE_SSL_ADMIN’, true); in the wp-config.php file set. The plugin was working in the previous version.
Thanks,

Hi Sean,
Ah, see that’s a whole different animal. That would have been helpful if you had mentioned that in the first place. 🙂
I’ll be happy to look into that for you. However I will need you to contact us through the support form as mentioned, as this is not our main support venue.

Made a quick update. Try 1.9.7.1.1. You should have no problems now. 🙂
I am still having the same issues with the new update.
If I set the define(‘FORCE_SSL_ADMIN’, false) in the wp-config.php file, then the plugin works just fine. But as soon as I go to the admin menu after changing the setting back, then it gets disabled.

You updated to 1.9.7.1.1 just now? That shouldn’t happen if you have things set properly in your settings. Since you’re still having the issue, as I mentioned, I’ll need you to contact us through our support page.

We got to the bottom of it. Fixed in version 1.9.7.2.

You’re welcome! Have a good one. 🙂
Problem still persists over here. Last working version 1.9.7
Error I’m getting slightly different but same intent:
“There is an error in your WordPress configuration. Website domains do not match.”
Multisite configuration using https and domain mapping.
Thanks

Hi hackycode,
That’s actually a different issue.
As mentioned above, please submit a support request at the WP-SpamShield Support Form (our main support venue), and we’ll be happy to help you out.
