I could use some help with broken links to the various news articles within my WP site.

I’ve tried deactivating the plugins, changing the theme, changed the Permalinks while I stood on head – several times. All to no avail. Actually all that bashed my local installation so badly I had to replace it with a saved copy.

I had this WordPress site up on my hosting company’s servers long enough to have Google “crawl” it for broken links. The report came back with not one broken link, not one. However, if you try to navigate here or there using the typical <a href> link, which is the equivalent of localhost/wordpress on the local machine, you find you’re unable to access the page/news article.

Frankly, I’m scared it might be Karma catching up to me for riding a stolen Harley Sportster my friend stole when I was a teenager because NOTHING and I mean NOTHING works I’ve tried to correct this.

I installed the Redirection plugin and am not quite sure it worked. Some links work that I didn’t fix and others that I fixed don’t work. There are so many duplicates some of which have absolutely nothing to do with the website. Some are botched up terribly, like this – /http://redirectionconnection.com/ (I just made that up, but it was similar).

I was hoping to use any broken links Google found and the Redirection plugin to fix the links, but since Google found none, I’m stuck.

How about a little grace here. I’se getting desperate.

    Try Xenu Link Sleuth.

And/or the Broken Links Checker plugin.

And good luck tracking the blighters down.

Yup. Got that one too. So tell me have you successfully fixed all your broken links and got your site running well?

Precisely what’s your technique or method. Do you mind relating your steps?

Just the above and Google Search Console.

And Google Analytics (without trusting every entry).
