Broken file uploads in multisite

Multisite (subdomain) installation, running latest NG and WP. Creating and uploading images/galleries in subsites work fine. Path is correct. However on uploading in the main site, the path according to NG is ‘/’ instead of ‘blogdir/files/’ Uploading is impossible, because folder is not writable.
