• I’m working on the website version of my university’s student produced newspaper. I’m not new to wordpress; I’ve been using it on my personal site for years. However, this has got me stumped.

Somehow in creating a custom theme, I’ve broken the comments page. Not sure how at all.

All I know is, clicking on the comments link leads me the university’s “page not found” file (the site is hosted on their servers).

Check it out at http://www.hsutx.edu/student_life/brand/ and let me know if you have any ideas.

    Thanks so much,
    Nathan

  • Looks like permalinks have messed up.
Try going back to the ugly ones and see what happens.

followed your suggestion, and now the comments link gives a blank white page. Can’t be right. Something wrong with comments.php?

redownload the comments.php, rename your current one and add in the newly downloaded one and see if it works… if so, then it would be somethihng in the comments, php if not, then it might be somwehere else..

    There is more than that…
Try to click on the title of any post (permalink) and you also get a blank page.
When you reset your permalinks – did you remove the ,htaccess file?

No, I did not remove the htaccess file. What sucks is that my sys admin is giving me next to zero access to my actual webspace, so any deleting/uploading of files will have to be through him.

Should I send him an email to remove .htaccess?
