@ccarner The plugin to work requires BuddyPress Member Types plugin, it can only auto-join the members if BuddyPress Member Plugin types is active.
So you’ll have to install and activate the plugin.
So even though the buddyboss platform plugin already provides ‘member types’ functionality (I assume this old membertypes plugin was made before the BB platform had this integrated) we have to still get the extra $40 ‘Member Types’ plugin to be able to use this ‘BP Auto Group Join’ plugin (which is NOT included as a BB platform feature)?

Yes so BB has built in member types functionality, but (correct me if I’m wrong) it doesn’t have the auto-group-join functionality (hence I was trying to use this plugin).
The issue then is that this plugin is requesting me to use ‘buddypress member types’ plugin in order to auto-join users based on the profile type, even though the profile-type feature is now built into buddyboss.

You can ignore the warning for installing the Member types plugin, the Auto join members to group should work as expected.

Yes so that option for joining ANY new member works fine, what doesn’t work is the option just below it in that image, “Select by member type”. This is the functionality that I was hoping to use.

We have checked that the “Select by member type” option is working properly. First of all, you need to select the option Select by member type then save the group. After saving, you will see the member type checkboxes there and you can able to select the member type for that group to auto join. Please refer to my screenshot: https://prnt.sc/10smpoa
