Bots Commenting on Attachments/Media Files?

    I am currently working on a new theme for a client, but while working on a new theme bots started to comment on the current site.

    The problem is the current site does not allow for comment anywhere, so I am unsure exactly how the bots are commenting in the first place.

    My second problem is where the comments are located. All the comments are for media files that have been uploaded via WP. I find this strange and something I have never ran into. The bots are purposely only commenting on media files (ex: http://www.mwphgldc.com/?attachment_id=2154). I didn’t even know you could comment on media files.

    Every time I go to the links I don’t see any comments, because they have to be approved, but I don’t see anyway to comment either.

    I am scratching my head over here!

    I don’t see any comments visible – maybe they are only visible to admin logged in? Can you post a screen shot (to your site or another image posting site) of what you are seeing?

    Well, the comments are not visible, because they have to be approved first. The client does not approve any of the comments, because they should not be there.

    My problem is I can not figure out how the bots are leaving comments on these “attachment_id=****” pages if there is not a comment box on the page.

    Have you tried deactivating all plugins?

    Perhaps the site has been hacked ? It shows up clean on Securi, but that’s not 100%

    I did install some editor plugins. Perhaps it is one of those. I will deactivate them and wait a few days to see if anymore comments are received.
