I am trying to add a booking calendar to my website that will allow me to take booking and send confirmation and accept payment

Did you try this WordPress plugin:

https://wordpress.org/plugins/appointment-booking-calendar/

It accepts a PayPal payment.

I really thought this was a user friendly program but I am finding it very difficult to work with and have not been able to access the support chat all day!! Frustrating!!
