Support » Installing WordPress » blog cannot be seen after install

  • Firstly, the search tool for this forum does not work well. “index.php” found nothing yet that term shows up in multiple forum entries. If the search engine is not hashing the entire message, it certainly should.

As I see is common (multiple entries in the forum and in many other forums on the web) for the latest version of wordpress, mutliple installation seems to cause an error whereby accessing the index.php file (the main blog page) generates an internal server error. No good solutions have been discovered. Some people have circumvented this problem by using version 1.5 instead. Does anyone know where I could get a copy of the older version?

  • You can get it here:

But: What did you do ? Is the Installation finished ? Have you activated URL-rewriting ?

    First: Thanks for the link!
Secondly: I did a straitforward install. Install php script worked fine. I can log into the administrator page and change things. When I access the main blog page (index.php) I get an internal server error. This exact behavior is reported on a number of places on the web. (The second set of database tables seems to have been set up properly, BTW).
Third: URL-rewriting? I’m not sure what that is.

Don’t get the idea that I don’t know that wordpress is VERY cool. My first instance on this server has been working flawlessly.
