@mattadams sorry to hear you feeling annoyed. We add this to not auto update to a big main version with changes you did not check because of the auto update.
Sure we will make the function only disable autoupdate for our plugin soon.

Our approach going forward: security and maintenance fixes (like the one released today) will auto-update to keep your site protected without any action needed on your part. However, major version updates like V5 — which include significant changes that could affect site compatibility — are set to manual update only, giving you full control before applying breaking changes.
This means we no longer block the auto-update toggle for other plugins, and the notification behavior has been revised. We believe this is the right balance between security and stability.
