Hi, how would we create a segment that lists all contacts whose birthday is, for example, in August?

The idea is to set up a segment that we can then use in an automation targeting customers whose birthday is coming up in the next few weeks.

    Hi @markus9 ,

You can absolutely do this using Omnisend’s Anniversary filters, which are designed specifically for birthdays and other recurring customer milestones.

To create a segment for contacts with upcoming birthdays:

    1. Go to Audience → Segments → Create segment.
    2. Add the Birthdate filter.
    3. Choose “Anniversary is in the next” and specify the number of days you’d like to target.

    For example:

    • Today: Birthdate → Anniversary is in the next → 1 day
    • Tomorrow: Birthdate → Anniversary is in the next → 2 days
    • Next 7 days: Birthdate → Anniversary is in the next → 7 days

The segment updates dynamically each day, so contacts automatically enter and leave the segment as their birthday approaches.

Note: If you’re importing birthday data rather than collecting it through Omnisend forms, make sure the dates use the YYYY-MM-DD format.

Once your segment is ready, you can create a segment-based automation and trigger it whenever a contact enters (or exits) that segment.

This gives you a fully automated way to send birthday campaigns at exactly the right time. If you need a hand setting it up or tailoring it to your birthday campaign strategy, we’re always happy to help.
