Best Free WP Backup Tool

I generally use Backupbuddy for wp backups, but when that fails my next resort is XCLoner, I don’t use any other methods of backup, there are times backupbuddy even struggles with certain sites but XCloner zips through it much easier

It’s not as visually elegant but for extreme control over backups and for really large and complex sites I recommend XCloner, it also preserved serialised data and other plugin settings very well
