Did you enable the BBCode/Emoji in the Guestbook settings? It should be under Settings > Form-tab.
If so, you should get a small menu on top of the textarea.
If you disabled BBcode in the form, all BBcode will be stripped from the content.
Hi, yes, I did enable it. And if you click on “b” for example it also shows in the input field, like this:
https://www.ffemedia.de/test/form.JPG
But if you send it, the text isn’t bold in the actual entry on the site and if you check the code, it doesn’t show:
https://www.ffemedia.de/test/form3.JPG
Although the saved entry in the WP backend does have it.
So I’m not sure how to fix it…
(thanks again for helping out)

Aah, could it be you are trimming the content to a max number of words? The excerpt will have stripped bbcode. Only the full entry has BBcode.
Ah yes thank you so much! That solved it. Just one more question: can I actually choose which options I want in the BBCode? I want to cut the two list options.
Ah I actually solved it myself. Thanks!
I have the same problem: the BBcode doesn’t seem to work. I have enabled “BBcode and Emoji” and set Length of entry content to Unlimited words. I have the new menu on top of the entry field and to the left of the smiley is an icon with brackets and a ‘No entry sign’ that says ‘Clean’ when I hoover but nothing happens when I click the icon.
I have inserted BBcode manually but it is not working. Simple code like [color=blue][color=blue]
Any clue on what I am missing?
Correction to the above: BBcode is like
[color=blue]some text[/color]
Hi, it would have been better to open a new ticket, this is a separate issue.
The BBcode ‘color’ is not supported, only the codes from the available buttons, like ‘b’ and others.
