• We have enabled Direct Bank Transfers.
On the back-end ‘Edit Bank Account Details’ popup – it has a mandatory “Sort Code” field (in which we entered our 6 digit code – which it fomats as nn-nn-nn).

But on the front-end ‘Checkout’ page – it gives it the title “Routing Number“. Why?
nb. ‘Routing Number’ seems to be a American 9 digit reference, not the 6 digit ref we entered!

We are using wooCommerce Version 10.5.3

    Hi @gretche,

Thanks for sharing this. I know it’s a bit frustrating when something like this doesn’t behave the way you’d expect after trying the obvious fix.

I was able to reproduce what you’re referring to on my side as well, using the latest version of WooCommerce. I also tested after setting the country/state to the UK, but the bank details still showed “Routing Number” instead of “Sort Code” on the customer-facing output.

    See screenshots: https://share.zight.com/12unOYO1 and https://share.zight.com/YEu9828B.

I’m going to raise this with the team so they can take a closer look, and I’ll circle back here once I have an update.

    Thanks for hanging in there.

    Hi @gretche,

Thanks for your patience while I tested this further.

I was able to confirm the condition where this happens. The label appears to depend on the country selected in the checkout address. When the checkout address is set to the United States, WooCommerce displays the bank transfer sort code field as Routing Number. When the checkout address is set to the United Kingdom, it displays as Sort Code. See screenshot: https://share.zight.com/p9uDjqWY

Could you please confirm whether the checkout/billing address used when testing this is set to the UK or the US?

Also, I’d recommend updating WooCommerce to the latest version first, then testing again with a UK checkout address to see whether it displays correctly on your side.

Thanks again for hanging in there.
