Follow up question: You mean besides the default backorder mails that are sent by WooCommerce? What function are you exactly looking for?

Reading your reply, I am wonder what “default backorder email” you are referring to?
I see nothing related to backorder emails in default WC. When customer orders a backordered item they get the normal order processing message, and it simply mentions in the line items which item(s) are backordered. Is that what you are referring to as “default backorder email” ?
Yes that is the default backorder email to the customer. Also there are 2 sent to the site admin (1 similar that is sent to the customer and 1 informing there are products on backorder).
