nope…depending how you uploaded them, they should be in your wordpress_dir ->wp-content ->uploads directory. Making a copy of that will backup your photos

Thanks, so if I restore the site from scratch from only the above back up I mentioned, will I have to go back by hand and add all photos to each blog post manually?
no you shouldn’t have to add them back to the posts manually. The database will know the location of the images. You need to download the wp-content/uploads folder which will contain all of the images you put into wordpress. If you’re moving the site the export/import function should take care of getting the images off the old site for you.
I’m not exactly sure how it works….I believe the database backup preserves the link information. So as long as you put all the photos back in the same folders in the uploads directory, they should show up in the posts.
RVoodoo is right. It just remembers where the files were.
