AWS SDK incompatibility

    Hello, good afternoon.

    We’ve run into a problem with the plugin. Since the last update it no longer works on PHP 5.4, because compatibility issues with AWS SDK.

    Basically, we get

    [Sun Jul 21 18:17:20 2019] [error] [client 81.61.4.184] PHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘$value’ (T_VARIABLE) in /home/…/www/wp-content/plugins/backwpup/vendor/aws/aws-sdk-php/src/functions.php on line 36

    which points to the keyword “yield”, introduced in PHP 5.5.

    Is it there any possibility we’ve backupwpup running on php 5.4 again?

    for now, please temproary using an old version of BWU 3.6.9, you can download it here: https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/backwpup.3.6.9.zip
    After activated the old version, please give me your server info by going to BackWPUp -> Settings -> Infomation tab

    Hi @cyberdark
    Duo to Amazon SDK library update, which requires PHP 5.5+, so that why you got the issue 🙁
    Sorry, but is it possible for you to contact the hoster and tell them to upgrade the PHP version to at least 5.5, or much better, PHP 5.6 or the latest 7.3? Because your PHP version is really outdated and will not receive any security fix or performance improvement, you can check here:
    https://www.php.net/supported-versions.php
    And I know that the reason to not upgrade the PHP version may because of code compatibility, but I think, at least you can safely upgrade the PHP version to 5.5 or much better, 5.6

    Hi, hello, not possible in my case.

    I’d suggest you then to update the plugin PHP minimum version on https://wordpress.org/plugins/backwpup/

    Thank you for noticing it, I already request PHP minimum version update to our plugin release manager ^^
    So it expected it will be updated tomorrow.
