Avatars in comments

    Hi all,

    I have just imported my blog from blogger to my own installation of wordpress.
    Everything seems to have been imported nicely, except for the avatars in the comments.

    What should I do to get the avatars mostly from the blogger profiles of people that commented on my posts? Is that feature included in blogger importer?

    Hi Wordprexito,
    in WordPress the avatars are provided by the email address of the person commenting and the “Gravatar” system. These are not stored with your site but are provided by an external system at http://gravatar.com.

    If you look at the comments via the dashboard you will see that the blogger feed does not supply the email addresses but puts “noreply@blogger.com” as the email so the standard wordpress support for avatars does not work.

    If you have some regular commenters then you might be able to write a query to add the emails back in for those you know.

    I see there are some avatar plugins so there might be an alternative approach?
