I am not sure I know what you mean, though. Where exactly would you like to have avatar? WP First Letter Avatar replaces every avatar on the site. Do you mean login page? We don’t know what avatar to use before user logs in.

when you login to wordpress page (wp-admin), in admin bar, are your name and the site ame and your user “image” on the rigth. This is the image i want replace.

You shouldn’t have to manually write default, because it should, by default, be set to default. It’s unusual that you had to write it manually…
Same issue for me in v.1.2.5
So you can’t see letter avatar on the right of your userbar? Like this?
Have you tried disabling other plugins to see if any of them causes a conflict?
yes, I tried, the matter is not important, the plugin works perfectly with new users, I will continue investigating the cause ….
If it works fine with new users, then I’m 99% sure it’s the problem with some cache plugin. Maybe you can configure it in order not to cache the avatars.
