Avada theme menus ignored

I create a menu to be shown on the events page; I choose this menu in the Avada page options; the menu displays fine when I go visit the page. I then set this page to be the events calendar page and the default menu is shown instead. It seems I can only use one menu with the events calendar.
Next I try the shortcode and when I add this to any page, again the menu changes.
