• Hello –

    Suddenly we’re unable to update wordpress in the dashboard (to 5.2.4).
    PHP is 7.2
    permissions on the includes directory is 755.
    There is no .maintenance file to delete.

    I don’t know what else to check (?)

    Here is the error:

    Downloading update from https://downloads.wordpress.org/release/wordpress-5.2.4-no-content.zip…
    The authenticity of wordpress-5.2.4-no-content.zip could not be verified as no signature was found.
    Unpacking the update…
    Could not copy file.: wordpress/wp-includes/wp-db.php
    Installation Failed

    The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Updates can fail for a large number of reasons and it is often hard to diagnose the failure due to specific configurations present on each server running the update. We can only recommend what to do if one does occur.

    Try MANUALLY updating: https://wordpress.org/support/article/updating-wordpress/#manual-update

    @webworks,
    From what we can see in the error message, the file “wordpress/wp-includes/wp-db.php” is not being able to be written by the updater-script.

    I believe if you can contact your hosting provider or technical contact to reset the permissions of the core WordPress folders & files to something that the PHP can write to, then you should be able to update from the WP Dashboard.

    Otherwise, as @t-p has explained, the manual update process will surely help update to the latest version of WordPress.
