• So I haven’t checked my website for a while and decided to log in and do a full revision, I go straight to the website and see that something has completely changed everything about the website turning it into a blog.

    http://www.brianarts.com is the website

I’m not sure what has updated, but I am using the precious theme that is no longer available to download from themeforest, which I purchased a few years ago. I do remember there was a free precious theme that was different from the one I purchased. I’m worried that something updated the precious theme to a new and cheap version and destroyed my old website. Luckily I still have the old precious.zip on a backup. Is there any way to revert everything back to the old website or any way to revert to the old wordpress? Not even sure if this is the right place to post. I haven’t touched anything in a few weeks and check and everything is destroyed.

I haven’t used wordpress in so long, but I’m trying to add the old theme on there, and its not working, just says are you sure you want to do this? Please try again. when I’m logged in to my website it says using precious theme.

Website has been standing strong for 4 years until this. I’m now using 4.3 which I don’t think was what precious was originally running on. I didn’t update it myself. Was completely fine 2 weeks ago.

    Thanks

  • Theme won’t update itself, only WP core does automatically updates and usually won’t affect theme unless it’s a very very old theme that contains some outdated functions.

Since the site seems to have very little content, it’s pretty easy to start with a new theme. For longevity of the project, always start the project with most recent built theme.

Luckily I still have the old precious.zip on a backup. Is there any way to revert everything back to the old website or any way to revert to the old wordpress?

You can do the manual theme install which is just dragging the theme folder

Revert WP core back to the previous version is strongly not recommended, using old theme is also not recommended.
