Auto theme update wiped out customization

    Hey man!

    First off, I love this theme. Seriously…it’s the greatest.

    Second, it would seem that the theme autoupdated overnight and wiped out the customization I had in the style.css file. I’m going to have the hosting company try to dial me back (if that’s possible) but, what do I need to do to avoid it autoupdating again. Is it as simple as renaming the theme?

    Obviously a child theme would been the way to go here…lesson learned. 🙂

    UPDATE: All good here, I think! Downloaded the starter child theme and brought all my customization over there from a back-up. Should be a-okay now!

    Hi there,

    Sorry for the late delay. I don’t get notified when someone creates a thread here.

    Yeah your best bet is to use a child theme when you make modifications.

    I don’t know why it auto updated, seems your hosting company did that.

    Glad you got it all worked out though. Thank God for backups…Lol

    I’m happy you like the theme. 6.1.1 is coming out very soon, do keep an eye out.

    Yeah, it was definitely the hosting company as it only happened on that site. As I said, lesson learned. 🙂
