Auto-login

I’d like to create a plugin, that auto-logins my users (commenters and writers too), using my site-wide login system. Without clicking “Login”. I guess I have to override some function, that is checking the curent user on every page, but if I override get_currentuser() nothing happens/changes. Other auth plugins also seem to require clicking “Login”. Any directions? Thanks!
