Auto-generated password is incorrect

I’m not sure if this is still a problem with v2.8.5 or 2.8.6. Does anyone know if the issue explained here is still existing in WP’s current versions?

It basically says that incorrect passwords can be generated for some usernames with upper-case letters, or something along the lines of that. I’m on version 2.8.5 if that’s any clue (?)
