• Forgive if this is a dumb question, but I’ve got a number of hobby-related blogs that I’d love to do something similar to this:

… with. It appears to automatically pull news headlines from blog feeds, based on keyword searches.

Is this easily doable in WP?

  • Reasonably easy, yep. There are some plugins that will make it happen, check this page: http://codex.wordpress.org/Plugins/Syndication

OK, so here’s a strange follow-up … is there a way to “moderate” the stories pulled in by an RSS feed?

Let me give a specific example. I run a blog on the topic of Sherlock Holmes, and would like to add a news feed for stories containing that name. But not a day goes by without some newspaper somewhere writing a story with the phrase “It doesn’t take a Sherlock Holmes …” to refer to a city council decision or something.

So, is there any way to get specific RSS-fed stories to queue up in the dashboard, so I can approve them on a one-by-one basis? Or is this a monstrous square peg I’m trying to fit into a round hole?

Thanks either way for the help!

I *think* a few of the syndication plugins have an option to send stuff to draft first. FeedWordPress maybe?

You’d probably want to look through their various documentation pages to confirm that. Sure seems like a logical idea though.
