Audit Log Viewer keeps denying access
-
I’m trying to view the Audit Log Viewer in WordPress but I keep getting denied permissions to view, “Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page”. I’m thinking this is possibly because the plugin only allows “Admins” to view. I created a “System Admin” role with all of the “Admin” functionality. Is this the reason?

Hello @tannerchung,
Thank you for using our plugin. Yes it could be that you locked yourself out, but do not worry, it is easy to revert back the access by following the below procedure:
1. Open the table wp_wsal_options using phpMyAdmin or a similar tool. This is the table where the plugin settings are saved.
2. Find the following entries and delete them:
2.a. wsal-plugin-viewers
2.b. wsal-plugin-editors
2.c. wsal-restrict-adminsWhile I trust the above helps you solve your issue, please do not hesitate to get in touch in case of any further queries. Also, would appreciate if you take a minute to rate our plugin.
Have a good day.
Hi, it doesn’t seem like those entries exist in the database. The options that exist in the table wp_wsal_options are:
wsal-pruning-date
wsal-pruning-limit-e
wsal-pruning-limit
wsal-disabled-alerts
wsal-log-404
wsal-purge-404-log
wsal-promo-send-idTherefore it seems that the new user you created does not have admin role. Sorry but I might have misunderstood this from your first request, where you said:
I created a “System Admin” role with all of the “Admin” functionality.
Do you mean the user you created has an admin role or not? If not you can use an admin user to access the plugin settings and allow this user to either view the alerts only or also manage the plugin.
To just view the alerts navigate to the Audit Log tab and add the user to the Can View Alerts setting.
If you’d like the user to manage the plugin, navigate to the General tab in the plugin’s settings and add the user to the Can Manage Plugin settings.
Please let me know if the above helps you solve your issue.
Support,
The User I have is not an admin role but has the exact same permissions as the Admin plus one more. My question is if it’s possible to change the Audit Log permissions based off of permissions rather than Roles since users are likely to be creating custom roles or modifying roles in many situations.
However, the feature you mentioned does work.
Thanks
HI @tannerchung,
At the moment it is not possible to allow / deny access to the audit trail based on permissions but you can allow / deny access to the audit trail to a specific user(s), so that should do the trick for you. Correct?
