• Hi… I have a site with a number of audio .mp3 recordings embedded with the [audio] shirt code. No audio-related plug-ins installed.Example here.

The site works just fine when visited from a Mac browsing with Safari, Opera, Firefox etc. But it has come to light that the audios do not play when visited by Windows 10 and may be other versions of Windows. My Windows tester has tried several browsers.

I have tried the usual things like switching to a standard theme, disabling plugins etc, without success. At one stage my tester friend said it was working again after I updated all plugins, but, alas, it is no longer working from Windows – at least for her. More than one Windows user has reported this problem.

    Any clues, please?
PS I am Mac only and cannot test directly.

  • Hei

Just to confirm are you using any plugin for audio or you are using any services like soundcloud or something like that ? Sorry to say but the audio is not even getting played on the MAC systems.

No audio-related plugins. The problem also occurs with all plug-ins disabled (apart from Search Engine Visibility Updater) and with theme Twenty Seventeen.

Very interested that it is not working for you on a Mac. It does work for me on a Mac.

In what Format the audio files are ? Also Why dont you use free podcasts type services to upload audio files and then just paste the link here It is always better to use services like soundcloud.

    .mp3

    embedded with:
    [audio mp3="http://archives.mariannefrylectures.co.uk/2013/Scilla -Tony-Voss-Intro.mp3"][/audio]

I use my own space to store the recordings as this a reference site and I prefer to have it under my own control. And I assumed originally that it would work :-#

Any news on your test with Windows?

I have raised the issue with my ISP – the are very good on support. They are convinced it is not a server issue.

I have checked the validity of the .mp3 files and found one with some issue and have re-written it but the problem remains.

On my test site at this moment http://test-site.mariannefrylectures.co.uk/past-lectures/2013-scilla-elworthy-cycle-violence/ I have tried installing an mp3 plugin called MP3-jPlayer. This has changed the appearance on the web site but not solved the problem of nothing playing for my Windows testing friend.

Everything works fine on my Mac and iPads.
