    Hello,

We are using Google for WooCommerce 3.9.6 with Google Merchant Center account 5598359647.

Our store has 9 WooCommerce products, but all show as “Not Synced”. There are 10 product issues.

    Eight products return this error:

“To manage items via the API, the data source must have an API input type. API data sources cannot have a fileInput field set.”

Our existing Merchant Center source is a Google Sheets feed named “Google for WooCommerce (es/ES)”, containing 4 approved products.

We need to migrate to automatic WooCommerce synchronization without losing these approved products or creating duplicates.

Could you confirm the safe procedure for resolving this issue in version 3.9.6?

We do not want to disconnect the accounts or delete the existing Google Sheets source until the migration procedure is confirmed.

    Thank you.

    Hi @vicenteimpacto ,

Thanks for the detailed write-up — and good instinct not to disconnect anything until you have a confirmed path.

We are aware of a bug that is causing this issue, and we are expecting a fix to be released in the next version to address the fileInput error you are seeing. Please give us a few days, and you’ll see an updated extension; using it should fix this error and automatically resolve the product feed sync issue.

Thanks for your patience & understanding, while we wait for the upcoming release.

Don’t delete anything yet. That error means the plugin is sending products to a data source whose input type is file. In your case that looks like the Google Sheets source, probably because its name matches the plugin’s, ‘Google for WooCommerce (es/ES)’. Things to check: 1) In Merchant Center, go to Settings > Data sources and see whether there is also a source with input type API. 2) Rename the Sheets source, for example by adding ‘(Sheets)’, then run a manual sync from Marketing > Google for WooCommerce. 3) Compare the item IDs in your sheet with the IDs the plugin sends (shown in the Merchant Center product details). If they differ, the two sources won’t overwrite each other while both exist. 4) Once the WooCommerce items are approved, pause or remove the sheet source. If the error stays after renaming, send the plugin authors the gla logs from WooCommerce > Status > Logs.

    Hi @vicenteimpacto ,

We released Google for WooCommerce version 3.10.0 and that should fix the sync issues with the incorrect file source. So please back up your site and update to the latest version of Google for WooCommerce and you should be able to get the products to sync correctly moving forward.

Could you keep us posted on how the recommended suggestion works out for you?

    Hi Saravanan,

We’ve updated Google for WooCommerce to version 3.10.0, but the synchronization issue persists.

We used the Connection Test page and ran the MAPI Data Sources Inventory tool.

The result shows only one data source:

    • Merchant Center ID: 5598359647
    • Data source: Google for WooCommerce (es/ES) (Sheets)
    • Kind: file
    • fileInput: yes

There is no API data source listed.

WooCommerce still shows 9 products as “Not Synced”, 10 product issues, and 0 synced products. The original fileInput error is still displayed.

We found the “MAPI Resolve Data Source” tool in Connection Test and have prepared the language and country fields as “es” and “ES”.

Is it safe to run “Resolve data source” in this situation? Will it automatically create a new API-compatible product data source without modifying or deleting the existing Google Sheets source?

We would prefer to preserve the existing four products until the WooCommerce synchronization is working correctly.

    Thank you for your help.

    Hi @vicenteimpacto ,

Thanks for following up and updating the extension to 3.10.0. No need to resolve data sources. Since your store only has 10 products, please click the sync all products button at the bottom (product sync options). If everything is connected, you will see a success message at the top. If you see errors, please share the latest Google for WooCommerce log (WooCommerce > Status > Logs).

A fresh forced sync should sync the products using a new API source if the current source is a file based source. So we would like to try that first.

    Hi Saravanan,

Thank you very much for your help and support!

I can confirm that the issue has now been resolved.

After updating Google for WooCommerce to version 3.10.0 and running the forced synchronization as you suggested:

    • A new Merchant API data source was successfully created.
    • All 11 products were synchronized and approved in Google Merchant Center.
    • We removed the old Google Sheets data source.
    • We also excluded one additional product (Sample Catalogue) from Google synchronization.

    Everything is now working correctly.

The only remaining detail is that the plugin still displays two warnings for the excluded Sample Catalogue (missing description and image), even though its status is “Not synced”. These may be residual warnings.

Thank you again for your assistance and for helping us resolve this issue!

    Best regards,

    Hey there @vicenteimpacto ,

Thanks for confirming that the issue has been resolved. You are right about the residual warnings. It should clear up automatically.

I’m marking this issue resolved for now, but feel free to respond back if you need further assistance.
