Is there a reason why the API key cannot be available on a wordpress.org profile? It’s really irritating having to go though a different wordpress.com account to activate plugins on a wordpress.org account.

Is there a reason why the API key cannot be available on a wordpress.org profile?
Because Automattic and WordPress.ORG are two seperate animals. Yes you can get the plugin here but the service comes from a commercial company outside of here.
It’s really irritating having to go though a different wordpress.com account to activate plugins on a wordpress.org account.
I use Akismet too but Cookies for Comments easily picks up 75% of my spam. Between that and Bad Behavior you might get good spam filtering without Akismet (or the API key).
Pls help. My blog had been spammed from “.ru” emails everyday.
I have download Akismet and Stat but I could not find my API to activate it. In the WP user admin section, and under my blog name, there is no API no.
