    Hi I’m keeps getting this error:

    Wordfence could not get an API key from the Wordfence scanning servers when it activated. You can try to fix this by going to the Wordfence “options” page and hitting “Save Changes”. This will cause Wordfence to retry fetching an API key for you. If you keep seeing this error it usually means your WordPress server can’t connect to our scanning servers. You can try asking your WordPress host to allow your WordPress server to connect to noc1.wordfence.com.

    What should I do??

  • Hi,

    Try doing a connectivity test and then report back. Click on “Options” then scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the link that says “Click to test connectivity to the Wordfence API servers”. This will tell us if your site is able to connect to our servers.

    Hi,

    I’ve tested and show the below result:

    STARTING CURL http CONNECTION TEST….
    Curl connectivity test failed with response:

    Curl HTTP status: 0
    Curl error code: 7
    Curl Error: Failed to connect to noc1.wordfence.com port 80: Connection timed out

    STARTING CURL https CONNECTION TEST….
    Curl connectivity test failed with response:

    Curl HTTP status: 0
    Curl error code: 7
    Curl Error: Failed to connect to noc1.wordfence.com port 443: Connection timed out

    Starting wp_remote_post() test
    wp_remote_post() test to noc1.wordfence.com failed! Response was: Connection timed out after 10002 milliseconds

    Starting wp_remote_post() test
    wp_remote_post() test to noc1.wordfence.com failed! Response was: Connection timed out after 10000 milliseconds

    Thanks! Looks like your host isn’t allowing connections to our servers. Have them allow noc1.wordfence.com on ports 80 and 443. Once they do that, try the connectivity test again.

    Hi,

    The host could use the domain name or IP when setting it up. noc1.wordfence.com is currently 69.46.36.8 — if the host allows connections from your site to that server through their firewall and/or proxy, that part of the scan process should work.
