• Hello fellow geniuses.

I have an annoyance with one of my WordPress blogs.
Every time I go to create a new entry, edit an entry or save an entry, WordPress automatically inserts a <div> at the bottom of the blog post.

    It looks like the following:

    <div style="background-image: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-color: #ffffbf; border-style: initial; border-color: initial; color: #000000; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; height: auto; line-height: normal; text-align: left; width: auto; direction: ltr; z-index: 99995; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial; border-width: 0px; padding: 0px; margin: 0px;"></div>

This has no effect on the final post or blog entry so even though there may be 10 of these, one right after the other, nothing shows up in the final entry.

It’s just incredibly annoying for me to look at every time I go an try to modify a post.
It Just ends up looking like a yellow 13px line in the visual editor portion of WordPress. So how do I stop WordPress from doing this?! GARR!

Note that I created the theme myself and I already searched my entire theme for bits and pieces of the html code listed above. I did not find anything that matched in my theme php/css.

I can post a picture if you like.

  • Hi Andrew,
exactly the same problem here. Did you find a solution yet. Tried deactivating all plugins with no help. Running latest WordPress.

    Thanx.
    André

    Hi Andrew,
and anybody else experiencing this problem. I found a solution that helped at least me: disable the option “Stop removing the <p> and >br />; tags when saving and show them in the HTML editor” in the plugin options of TinyMCE Advanced.

    Hope that helps.
    Good luck.
    André.

I’m also having this problem, but disabling “replace linebreaks” didn’t help. I’m seeing the same problem in both WordPress and Drupal installations, and it appears to be editor independent, I’ve tried installing a different editor (in Drupal) and that didn’t help.

Note that this insertion only happens at the end of a post, not at every line break.
