Animations better than .gif

    So fare, I have been making all my animations in gif. This is fine; they work well, and are easy to make with Gimp (open source from gimp.org).

    I you want to make something abit more advanded than gif, what programs would you use? I can see that many professionels are using flash, but is that possible to make with any open source program?
