Hi there, I use your consent tool since several months now and was very satisfied till now. Regarding, that I am a lawyer for IT law and gdpr, it’s importat for me that tools like this work stable…

I today noticed, that google analytics cookies are active, although I did not opt in. I tried to refresh all settings via assistant, but nothing changed. Could you please tell me, whats the problem here? I relly don’t wand to change to another tool now.

    Hi @wpeight,

As you have embedded analytics anonymously, to make sure Complianz blocks Google Analytics until consent has been given, you should in the wizard, in the “general/visitors” section, select that you target visitors from Germany/Austria.

Then in “cookies/statistics configuration” section, you can choose to ask consent for anonymized analytics as well.

Let me know if that resolves your issue!

    Hi @wpeight,

Thank you for the kind words!

I see Google Analytics cookies being placed before consent as well. I suspect that you have configured Google Analytics to anonymize IP addresses. If you have selected the EU as your target region, Complianz will not block Google Analytics with these settings.

However, I see that you are situated in Germany. We are aware that the German government has stated that Google Analytics should be blocked before consent, even if IP addresses are anonymized. That is why we added Germany/Austria as a separate region.

Please check these steps to configure according to DSGVO:
    1. Make sure you are running the latest version of Complianz
    2. Go to the wizard -> General -> Visitors and indicate that you are targeting visitors from Germany.
    3. Go To 3. cookies -> Statistics – Configuration and answer yes to the question ‘Do you want to ask consent for statistics’.
    4. Press save
    5. Clear cache if needed

If you check your site in a fresh browser (cleared cookies), you will see that Google Analytics is now blocked before consent.

Please let me know if this worked out.

    Kind regards,
    Leon

I tried that configuration like I showed you in my screenshot, purged all caches and browser caches and analytics is still running without optin.

UPDATE: I think I got it… I made the check at google tag manager and now it works. But why does it not work when “analytics” is checked?

Update 2: With tag manager enabled instead of analytics, the google cookie is now blocked until I opt in, but if I optin, nothing happens at google analytics…

You are right: there is a bug in the 4.1.3 update for Google Analytics. A filter that adds the analtics.js script to the block list is erroneously commented out.

I will fix this and update the plugin within 15 minutes. The update will resolve the issue.

Sorry for the inconvenience, and thank you for reporting it!
