If your files are not protected you can just enter the s3 URL. However, if they are protected you’ll need the addon.
I was reading that some people had a problem with the downloads dl correctly.
If the URL is accessible without authentication I don’t see why it wouldn’t work.
Would it be better to just us the media upload in wordpress and host it in the same hosting? Wouldn’t that make it secure so they can’t get a direct link to the file and make the dl limited?
If you upload via the product page, they will be served from your site via a script and not accessible directly.
Will the script work with any file I add from the media in wordpress? I ask that because some files are large and I would have to upload via ftp and then add them to media via a plugin.
You’d need to place them in our protected directory, but yes.
What directory is that? I uploaded it to the uploads folder in wordpress, would that be correct?
uploads/woocommerce_uploads
So I can upload larger files to the directory and they will be protected and only dl with the script in woocommerce?
Right. You’ll see a .htaccess file in there which prevents direct access.
