Almost Everything Disabled
-
Plugin version Version 2.4, updated it today, it was working fine before.
I am no longer able to create or edit entries. Almost everything is disabled.
I can send a screenshot if you like.

Same here. Just downloaded the plugin. Have not used it previously. The only active part of the CSS and JS forms are the title bar and the option radial buttons. Text box is grayed out.
Hello there,
I didn’t do anything intentionally to disable the free functionality. The Add Custom JS page should look as in this screenshot.
In case I did something wrong would you be kind enough to give me backend access so I can have a look? Send me a message on the contact page and I’ll look into it as soon as possible.
How about this screenshot?
OK, now that’s weird. That screenshot above is from last night. Today I look at it and it seems fine.
Nothing has been modified in the meantime as that was the last thing I did yesterday then set the task aside.
{scratches head}
Magic? :0)
[Now, what was it I was going in there to do, anyhow? C’mon brain cells, remember!]
In case it does happen again, will you please check the Console for JavaScript errors? It looks as if there was a JavaScript error on the page, but what caused that …
Hi Diana,
Still not working. The script box is grayed out. Here’s the error message in the Console:
JQMIGRATE: Migrate is installed, version 1.4.1 load-scripts.php:9:542 TypeError: CodeMirror.scrollbarModel[cm.options.scrollbarStyle] is not a constructor codemirror.js:494:29 TypeError: e is undefined load-scripts.php:263:1538 TypeError: e is undefined load-scripts.php:263:1538 TypeError: e is undefined load-scripts.php:263:1538 TypeError: e is undefinedThanks for any help you can lend.
I have good news and bad news.
The good news is that I found the problem: there is an incompatibility with the Toolset Types plugin. Both the plugins load the CodeMirror editor scripts and that leads to the conflict.
The bad news is that I cannot do anything about it. I will simply write in the documentation that the plugins aren’t compatible and show a warning on the website in case both of them are activated at the same time.
Unfortunately you’ll have to make a choice.
Thank you for looking into it, Diana. Grateful for the help.
I’ve never heard of the Toolset Types plugin prior to today, but can look to see if I have something else loading the CodeMirror editor scripts. If it happens again I can try the console check too. Yesterday and today so far the plugin has been behaving beautifully. :0)
There are many plugins that use CodeMirror as an editor. Out of them I’ve identified the following that load the CodeMirror editor scripts on all the admin pages, therefore interfering with other plugins:
* Toolset Types
* Advanced Ads – Code Highlighter
* WP CUSTOM BACKEND CSS
* Custom CSS – Whole Site and Per PostI’ve implemented a workaround to the problem, so now the textarea shouldn’t get disabled with these plugins.
For any reader of this forum topic: if you find out that the editor is disabled, please send me the list of active plugins on your website and I’ll find out which one causes the problem.
Hmmm… textarea is still disabled.
Has the workaround been pushed to the plugin core? Latest changelog is from 08/01/16.
Yes, I pushed the changes without making a new release. You need to uninstall the plugin and install it again in order to get the changes.
If we uninstall we lose all data. So how do we backup existing css/scripts prior to this re-install?
With the free version you cannot backup the css/javascripts as restoring them involves rebuilding all the files on the disk.
You can check out the documentation for the pro version and see if that’s what you need.
Oh, fabulous. Issues like this is why people get very nervous about updating and often postpone them. It gives WordPress a bad name and results in sites being left open to hackers.
I do appreciate your time in creating a free plug-in. It’s unjustified to moan about something that’s free.
I understand that certain programmer personality types love ‘Gold Plating‘ and certain user personality types like things to be gold plated.
I also understand that this issue may be due to the poor programming practices of others.
But all I need is something that inserts what I type. No need for auto-adding the <script tag. No need for fancy formatting. Just put what I type where I want it.
The fact that this issue will affect VERY MANY free version users and you haven’t provided an easy way out (without paying $60) means that I can’t rely on your free plug-ins. And that makes me very nervous about buying a paid for plug-in from you. I’m afraid that after uninstalling, I won’t be re-installing.
