Edit each of your Pages and Untick Allow comments in the Discussion Pane. You may have to do the reverse on each of your Posts. If you do not see the Discussion pane initially, click Screen Options and tick the Discussions checkbox.

For the posts, do I need to do click on Allow Comments for each post? Or is there a blanket permission somewhere that I didn’t find yet?
You do need to check the global discussion settings in Settings -> Discussion but any change you make now may only affect new posts. You may to change existing Posts one-by-one.

Using Twentyeleven theme I am unable to control comments. ALL my pages have comment spaces appearing, but my posts do not. This is the opposite of what I need.
Where can I control this? I’ve searched all over and read the forums, but am still baffled.
