'Allow custom messages' option not working?

    When I set up a new petition and select the ‘Allow custom messages’ option, there doesn’t seem to be a field on the petition itself for users to fill in. Is that what it’s used for, or am I wrong? I’d like for this to be the case so that when users are signing petitions, they can convey their thoughts to be more impactful. Thanks!

    Nevermind, I was viewing the petitions in ‘Preview’ mode and that was making the ‘Allow custom messages’ option not function.
