• WordPress Dashboard does not show any update notifications for themes or updates. That problem is since I went from wampserver localhost to live. Is that a database related issue? What can I do to fix it? Basic checks and solutions such as disabling all plugins did not make it work. Totally stuck here as I haven’t been able to find any answer on this.

Basic checks and solutions such as disabling all plugins did not make it work.

    – also try switching to the unedited default Twenty Fifteen theme WITH ALL PLUGINS DEACTIVATED for a moment using the WP dashboard to rule out any theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

    – If that doses not help, check your .htaccess, wp-config.php, and functions.php for anything that might be blocking these notices.

THX! switching to the unedited default Twenty Fifteen theme WITH ALL PLUGINS DEACTIVATED did NOT WORK either. I haven’t found anything that blocks the update notices (not 100% sure what to look for)
I realized that I also not able to add a new plugin or search for new plugins online. Those options are completely missing as well. It’s weird as everything works – instead of the wordpress updating system…

    How do you know?

Your WP is up-to-date (4.2.4). There is no new update available at this moment.

Have you manually checked and confirmed if there are updates available for your theme and plugins?

Yes there should be a bunch of updates for my plugins and themes as well. I am aware that I am running the latest version of wp. Maybe wrong file and folder permissions are the cause of this error? Is that possible? Very much appreciate your help Tara! THX!!

It could be. You may want to talk to your hosting provider. They may not allow automatic uploading

    – You may also try MANUAL updating. Download a fresh copy of the WordPress .zip file to your computer, unzip it, and use that to copy up all files and folders EXCEPT the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory. You may need to delete the old copies of files & folder on your server before uploading the new ones. Read the Manual Update directions first.

I just checked the file permissions, they seem to be right. I am still not getting the option to add a new theme or to add a new plugin in my wordpress dashboard at all. I ll give the manual update option a try …

I did the MANUAL UPDATE but the problem still exists. I am also not able to edit pages as well as forbidden to enter several parts of my dashboard as I just realized…..Cheatin’ uh? ERROR
